Clafer tools and web tools 0.5.5 released: decimals

by Michał Antkiewicz, Oct 27, 2026

Release 0.5.5 adds decimals, improved scope inference, and for web tools, improved UI and URLs without port numbers. Binaries for Linux x86_64 are available from the Clafer tools binary distributions page.

Decimals. The new primitive type decimal holds numbers with a fixed number of fractional digits. The bike example in ClaferMooVisualizer shows a bike whose optional features have decimal costs and weights, and the trade-off between its price and its weight. Decimals are supported by the Choco-based tools only. See the Clafer Cheat Sheet for details.

Scopes. References with unbounded multiplicities get correct scopes, and the compiler warns about large ones; partial scope files are now supported in both chocosolver and claferIG.

The binary bundle contains clafer, claferIG, chocosolver and Alloy 6.2.0. It runs on Linux x86_64 with glibc 2.39 or newer and needs Java 21 or newer; on Windows, use it through WSL.

Live demos, now available via URLs without port numbers: the Clafer Model Wiki, the Railway Wiki, the Traffic Lights Wiki, ClaferIDE, ClaferConfigurator and ClaferMooVisualizer.
